Ford Focus Midgets 40 lap feature race

Fifteen year old Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. led 30 of 40 laps winning the Ford Focus 40-lap feature race during the 68th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. With the victory Bowman was able to clinch his first ever Ford Focus National Championship. Steven Mathews of New LIskeard, Ontario, Canada finished in second place and Ian Miille of Pleasanton, Calif. finished in third place and clinched the Ford Focus California Pavement Series Championship.

USAC Western Sprint Car Series 40 lap feature race

Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. took over the lead on the 6th lap from Ryan Kaplan of Chico, Calif. and went on to win the USAC Western Sprint Car Series 40 lap feature race during the 68th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Kaplan finished in second place 0.629 seconds behind the winner. Cole Whitt of Alpine, Calif. finished in third place.

MOPAR Midget National Championship – 98 lap feature race

Bobby Santos of Franklin, Mass driving the Western Speed Racing Toyota took over the lead going in to turn four on lap 90 from Bobby Hamilton of Eagle, Idaho and went on to win the 98 lap USAC Midget feature race in the 68th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Hamilton finished in second place and Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. finished in third place. With his 11th place finish, 17 year old Cole Whitt captured the National Midget Championship edging Tracy Hines by one point for the crown. Whitt became the youngest Midget champion in the history of USAC. The race win by Santos allowed his Western Speed Racing Team to capture the $15,000 Toyota Challenge.
